What to Do After Hail or Wind Damage to Your Roof

Northeast Ohio storms can loosen shingles, bruise roofing and let water in before you notice. Acting quickly protects your home from further damage.
1. Stay safe and look from the ground
Do not climb onto a damaged roof. Check for missing shingles, dented gutters and debris in the yard.
2. Protect the inside
If water is coming in, move belongings and call a roofer for emergency sealing. Temporary repairs keep damage from spreading, and you should keep the receipts.
3. Document everything
Take dated photos of the roof, gutters, siding and any interior leaks. Good documentation gives you a clear record of what the storm did.
4. Call your insurer, then a roofer you trust
Report the damage to your insurance company promptly. The claim itself is between you and your insurer. We inspect storm damage, seal the roof temporarily, give you photos of the damage to share with your insurer, and repair the roof.
